General Musings
Oh, hello. Didn’t see you there.
I’m going to slide right by the large number of missed newsletter months and get right into the “what’s been going on.”
Usually, I’m scrounging my phone to see if I happened to take a picture of something remotely photogenic, inspiring-esk, or whatever “artistic” looks like. But it’s been a whirlwind, so this newsletter is going to read more like a photo-digest of sorts.
I bring you, the last few months:
I graduated with my master’s in popular fiction writing and publishing in May from Emerson College in Boston.
Where my family joined me to celebrate.
From my dad reading Calvin and Hobbes to me every night when I was little to later analyzing books of college poetry with my mom, I wouldn’t be a writer without their steady support and encouragement.
They inspire me everyday.
Speaking of support, encouragement, and inspiration…
Travis and I celebrated 17 years together, and I can’t imagine a better person to spend that time with. My days are full of comedy, innovation, exploration, adventures, and chill all in a wonderful kaleidoscopic bloom.
After two quarters of insane teaching hours filled with lesson planning, bureaucracy, grading, and burning my eyeballs out in front of my computer, it was a breath of writerly-rejuvenation to be around incredible authors, many not pictured here but equally as inspiring.
Back in Colorado, my aunti and I went to my 22nd (I think) season of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. She has made it her job since before I could talk to bring art, culture, and history to my life. I don’t know if there’s a better gift out there than that.
Back in Seattle, my brother and I celebrated 7-years since his kidney transplant the best way we know how: cannonball competitions in the lake.
Finally…
a beast named Marvin now controls my home, my comings and goings, and my sleep schedule.
But we look to the future (before immediately barking like a lunatic at the scary waves down there) to see more creation, exploration, adventure, and more chilling out with the best people there are.
